Shawn turned two!

This boy cracks me up. he was such a serious baby, but now he is coming out of his shell. Shawn LOVES trucks. anything with wheels, really. Tractors, cars, loaders, excavators, trailers. He loves it all. Shawn doesn’t talk a whole lot, most of his words are hard to understand, but he knows how to make a truck noise, the sound of sirens, and of a bulldozer backing up. He is so much like daddy. He loves trucks, cows, horses. He has dad’s eyes, nose, mouth, legs. He misses his daddy a lot and they growl at each other a lot on the phone, making animal noises. He loves to come snuggle with mama in bed first thing in the morning.

He might have remembered from his cousin’s birthday just what to do here. The candle was out about .2 seconds after this photo was snapped. He was so excited.

Halloween 2010

best hallow2010I had this lion costume laying around and knew that I wanted to put Shawn in it this year, and as a fan of group themes, I needed something to go with it. I thought “Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My?” no. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe? Maybe? Would the kids go for that? No way. The girls are both going to fight over who gets to be the witch, and no one will want to be the wardrobe. So, I proposed it to the kids while driving.

“I was thinking…{proposal of idea}…” Immediately Katie yells “I want to be the witch!” and I thought okay, here it comes. Go ahead Sarah, tell me you want to be the witch, too. What I heard instead was “I want to be the wardrobe! What’s a wardrobe?”

Perfect. The only thing to decide was if she would be a dresser, or wear every article of clothing she owned. We did the first. The second involved too much laundry. funny hallow 2010So, for three days they dressed up! Wednesday was the trunk-or-treat. Friday, we went to a party at a friend’s house. Saturday we drove out to the country and drove from house to house trick-or-treating. I went as a grouchy housewife.
